The next step in network evolution
Solutions featured at CeBIT in the field of new technologies will include Cisco Business Ready Data Center (BRDC), the integrated architecture approach presented by Cisco for the operation of modern computing centers. With the help of this solution, enterprises will be able to significantly reduce their computing center operating overheads. Products from the Catalyst 6500 family form the heart of the BRDC. Service modules for these switches are used to meet the different computing center requirements in the fields of security, content and wireless networking. Another important part of the BRDC is the Cisco MDS 9000 fiber-channel switch series, which is used to build highly available, highly scalable Storage Area Networks (SANs). The following components will play a major role in the demonstration of the BRDC:
- The MDS 9000 series. It is possible to connect blade servers via an iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface). In addition, SANs can be hooked up via FCIP (Fiber Channel over IP). The MDS 9000 also serves as a platform for network-based storage applications.
- Optional optimization elements from IBM, one of Cisco's partners, including the integrated management and provisioning solution as well as the blade switches developed by Cisco as part of the IBM Blade Center.
- The ONS 15530 DWDM Multi-Service Aggregation Platform as the interface to the backup computing center.
